Teams-Outlook Email Integration | What is New?

Microsoft is rolling out a handful of new useful features between Microsoft Teams and Outlook. If you already have these for your organization you do not need to do anything extra, but you might want to consider user training and notifying your helpdesk and employees.

Below is an overview of new features that will soon be available for your organization to take advantage of:

  • Share email from Outlook to Teams
  • Share a copy of an email and any attachments from Outlook to a channel or chat in Teams
  • Share a conversation in Teams via email
  • Share a copy of a Teams channel or chat conversation via email directly from the Teams client
  • Reply to Teams by responding to missed activity emails in Outlook
  • Ability to respond to Teams missed activity emails directly within Outlook clients, as well as see the latest missed messages

How Does This Affect Your Organization?

These new integrations between Teams and Outlook will enable users to seamlessly get information and move conversations to where they belong. Whether a customer request starts through an email and needs to be moved into a project team in Teams, or an announcement needs to be shared in a broader channel, your organization will now be equipped with the right tools.

Teams will now show missed activity emails and the latest missed messages in order to provide the ability to respond directly from Outlook to Teams. This allows efficient communication to help conversations that need your attention- even while you are going through your inbox.
