Stay Ahead of the Evolving Threat Landscape with Office 365 Advanced Threat Protection (ATP)

With the never-ending threat of malware, companies must continually find ways to stay ahead. How do you protect your data from these threats when they are always evolving and becoming more aggressive? Microsoft has a solution that helps protect Exchange online, Word, Excel and PowerPoint Online called Advanced Threat Protection (ATP). It is another layer of must-have security that Microsoft offers to meet all your business needs.

What exactly does Advanced Threat Protection do?

  • Protects against unknown viruses and malware.
    Safe Attachments is an advanced feature of ATP that opens attachments in a Microsoft protected virtual machine in their scanning environment. By opening up the attachment in a secure area, Microsoft can quickly see if the code in the attachment is benign or if it will try to impact the machine – like trying to find files to encrypt with ransomware.

  • Provides real-time scanning.
    In ATP’s Safe Links feature, users are being proactively protected from malicious links with real time scanning of links as they are clicked. When scanned if the link is deemed malicious the Exchange end user will see a Safe Links-rewritten link, but in Word, PowerPoint and Excel the end user will not experience anything different except when a malicious link is clicked. When a user clicks on a link that points to a malicious website, he or she will be taken to a warning page telling the user that the targeted web page contains malicious content. When a user clicks on a benign link, the link will simply be followed.
       
  • Delivers reporting and URL trace capabilities. 
    This gives your organization critical insight into the kind of malware and viruses that are being sent and who they are targeting. In real time, your inbox is being patrolled for vicious malware. When it does detect a potential threat, you are immediately alerted to the threat with recommendations on how to deal with it. 
     
  • Reports insight and trends. 
    The reporting interface provides trends and insight on the health of your organization. This includes information about malware, spam (either received or sent), and threats that were discovered and stopped. Administrators are now able to schedule reports that can be sent directly to their inbox. Additionally, you can request custom reports and download or manage the reports via the Security and Compliance Center.

ATP allows you to be proactive in your security; protecting you at point-of-click and notifying you about possible threats you have side stepped because of the features it provides to protect your business and your time.
